The starting signal goes off at 11:59 pm, almost midnight, in Las Canteras, on the Las Palmas seafront, for a crossing of the volcanic island from north to south.
The route first climbs toward Teror, then Artenara, up into the island's highlands, before reaching the Moriscos summit, at 1,727 m.
It then drops to Tejeda, crosses El Garañón and reaches Ayagaures, approaching the south coast.
The finish is in Maspalomas. 30 hours are given to reach it.

The organiser announces 126 km and 6,764 m of elevation gain for the 2026 edition. Plotrek's illustrative route, redrawn on OpenStreetMap paths, measures 128.3 km and 6,329 m of gain. Start: Las Canteras (Las Palmas); finish: Maspalomas (Parque Sur); on the way, Degollada de las Lajas at km 61.8.
30 hours for the 2026 edition, according to the organiser's website, read on 17 September 2026. That is the time allowed to cover the announced 126 km. Start: Las Canteras (Las Palmas), at 11:59 pm. The time limit can change from one edition to the next; the organiser's rules prevail.
Moriscos, at 1,727 m, at km 73.6 of Plotrek's route. The high point lies between two landmarks of the course: Degollada de las Lajas (1,229 m, km 61.8) and El Garañón (1,675 m, km 92.4). The start is at 12 m, the finish at 33 m.
869 m of elevation gain in one go, from km 52.5 to km 59.7 of Plotrek's route. Landmark on the way: El Hornillo (742 m, km 53.6). No other climb on the 128.3 km course is as long. Average gradient of this section: 12.1%. It accounts for 14% of the route's elevation gain.
