Reading the route
The start is at Saint-Pierre, Ravine Blanche, at 22:00 on a Thursday evening, for this south-to-north crossing of Réunion Island, which runs through Réunion National Park. The route climbs through Bassin Plat, Domaine Vidot and Notre-Dame de la Paix. It reaches Nez de Bœuf, at km 45.3, at 2,030 m, then Croisée Coteau Kerveguen, at km 68.4, at 2,487 m: the highest point of the route.
The descent reaches the Salazie cirque and Hell-Bourg, a rest base on the route, at km 81.3, at 1,003 m. The route climbs again past Bras Marrons and Col de Fourche to Plaine des Merles, at km 94.4, at 1,811 m. It then crosses the Mafate cirque, past La Plaque and Roche Plate. The route passes La Brèche before Ti Col Maïdo, at km 122.6, at 2,013 m. It then descends to Ilet Savannah, another rest base, at km 140.3, at 129 m.
After Ilet Savannah, the route descends via chemin Ratinaud toward La Possession. It then follows chemin des Anglais to Grande Chaloupe, at km 164.7, at 11 m. The route passes through Saint-Bernard and Colorado, before the belvédère de la Vigie. The finish is at Saint-Denis, stade de la Redoute, after 180 km. The race lasts 66 hours at most, with the finish closing on Sunday at 16:00 and cut-offs at every checkpoint.
