Reading the route

In Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, this marathon starts and finishes in the same place: the Olympisch Stadion. The gun goes off there at 9:00, for a 42.195 km loop.

The opening kilometers head for Vondelpark, at kilometer 2, then pass the Rijksmuseum, at kilometer 4. Zuidas comes next, by way of Beethovenstraat.

The course leaves Amsterdam for Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. It comes back toward the city over the Brug Oranjebaan, then through the Amstel Business Park.

Overamstel and Van der Madeweg open the last part of the route. Galileïplantsoen comes at kilometer 33, and Wibautstraat at kilometer 37.

The route crosses the Torontobrug, then goes back past the Rijksmuseum at kilometer 38 and Vondelpark at kilometer 40, both already seen in the opening kilometers. The finish is at the Olympisch Stadion, where the loop began. End to end, the course stays on road, on city asphalt. Runners are given 6 hours to get back to the stadium.
