Reading the route
The start goes off at 8:45, in four waves until 9:45, on Leeson Street Lower, at the corner of St Stephen's Green. The route runs through The Liberties and St Patrick's Cathedral, then Patrick Street. It reaches Christchurch at km 1.7. From there it crosses the Liffey quays, then Stoneybatter and Aughrim Street, home to the first of ten water stations. The course enters Phoenix Park at km 5.
Inside Phoenix Park, the route passes Dublin Zoo and Chesterfield Avenue. It exits the park toward Castleknock, reached at km 10.1. From there it continues by Knockmaroon Gate to Chapelizod, at km 16.2. It then crosses Inchicore and Kilmainham Gaol before Dolphin's Barn, at km 20.9.
The route then runs along Crumlin Road, through Walkinstown and Kimmage. It reaches Terenure at km 29.2. It continues by Dartry Road and Milltown Road, then Clonskeagh. It crosses Roebuck Road and Fosters Avenue, then Stillorgan Road. It reaches Nutley Lane at km 38.5, then joins Merrion Road and Northumberland Road. The finish comes on Mount Street Upper, in front of the Pepper Canister Church, after 42.195 km. The course stays open for 7 hours after the last runner crosses the start line.
