Reading the route

The marathon starts at Preston Park, in Brighton. It joins London Road and turns around toward Withdean and Patcham, at km 2.9, before heading back to the centre. The route passes the Theatre Royal and the Royal Pavilion, then Old Steine. Around mile 4.5, you cross 200 m of cobbles, before reaching The Level at km 9.2.

After The Level, the route passes St James's Street. It continues along Marine Parade and Marine Drive to the east. At Ovingdean, a turnaround toward Greenways marks km 16.6. The halfway point falls above Brighton Marina, reached at km 20.6. The course then heads back toward Madeira Drive, where another turnaround, toward Black Rock, marks km 25.5. It then passes Brighton Pier and the i360 on the way to the Peace Statue, at km 28.9.

From the Peace Statue, the course follows Grand Avenue. It continues along Church Road and New Church Road to Wish Park, at km 34.8. The route then passes Hove Lagoon, then Hove Promenade, where a row of colourful beach huts stands around mile 25. The finish is on Hove Lawns, after 42.195 km.
