Reading the route
This point-to-point marathon runs from Folsom to Sacramento, almost entirely on urban asphalt. The start goes off at 7 am, near Folsom Dam, in California.
The opening kilometers follow Oak Avenue, before the course reaches Fair Oaks Boulevard, running through Sacramento's residential suburbs for a good stretch of the route.
Toward the end, the route passes near Sutter's Fort and leaves the residential neighborhoods for downtown Sacramento's street grid. The cutoff is set at 6 hours 30 minutes, with a finish-day festival on site for the rest of the day.
The finish comes on Capitol Mall, in front of the California State Capitol, at the end of this point-to-point course from Folsom.
