Reading the route
The Maratón Valencia leaves Plaza del Maratón at 8:15, next to the Puente de Montolivet. It covers 42.195 km across the city, on road and on city asphalt.
Run at sea level, the course stays flat throughout. It reaches the port area, which it covers twice, then works its way back toward the heart of Valencia.
The city then unfolds along its main avenues: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Guillem de Castro and Plaza de Tetuán. The route also takes in the Alameda, Colón street and the Puerta del Mar. Plaza de Europa, Plaza de Zaragoza and Plaza de América round out the squares it crosses.
The course closes back on itself: the finish is judged in front of the Ciutat de les Arts, a short way from where the race began. To be ranked, the 42.195 km must be covered in 5 hours 30 minutes or less.
