Reading the route

This marathon starts and finishes in two different places: the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building marks the start, and the route never returns to it. The opening kilometers leave Shinjuku for the center of the city.

The route passes through Kanda Awajicho, then Uenohirokoji. It reaches Kuramae, in Taito ward, and crosses Kuramae Bridge.

On the far bank, the route runs through Ryogoku, in Sumida ward, and reaches Tomioka Hachimangu. It goes back over Kuramae Bridge, then past Meijiza.

The route comes back through Nihombashi Takashimaya, Ginza and Hibiya. It reaches Shiba Park, then Tamachi Station, and crosses Minato at kilometer 40.

The race goes back through Hibiya, crossed once already, and ends at Wadakura-Gate intersection. From start to finish, it stays on tarmac, in the streets of the city.
