Reading the route
This marathon links Miller Street, in North Sydney, to the Sydney Opera House, from one side of the harbour to the other. The start, at 6:30 am, crosses the Harbour Bridge almost right away, heading for the south shore of the bay.
The route then loops through The Rocks and Circular Quay, before crossing the Harbour Bridge a second time and reaching The Rocks again, just before the first third of the race.
It heads south toward Centennial Park, then returns toward the harbour through the Royal Botanic Garden and Circular Quay in the closing kilometers.
The finish is at the Sydney Opera House, on the waterfront. Beyond 7 hours, it's over.
