Reading the route
The start is at Sölden at 6:30, for a loop that crosses into Italy before returning to the start. After Oetz, at kilometer 30.8 and 783 m, the road climbs 18 km to Kühtai, at kilometer 48.5 and 2,017 m. The first time check is there, at 9:30.
The route continues, then climbs 37.5 km to the Brennerpass, at kilometer 118.6 and 1,369 m, on the border with Italy. It descends to Sterzing, at kilometer 135.6 and 944 m, before another climb of 15.5 km to the Jaufenpass, at kilometer 152.3 and 2,090 m; on these climbs, gradients reach 18% in places.
After the Jaufenpass, the road descends to St. Leonhard in Passeier, at kilometer 171.8 and 696 m. It climbs again for 29 km to the Timmelsjoch, the highest point of the route at kilometer 201.2 and 2,474 m, where the time check closes at 19:15. The loop closes back in Sölden after 227 km, at 1,351 m, for a total of 5,500 m of climbing.
