Reading the route
The course starts in Dole at 203 m and reaches Belfort after 205.8 km on asphalt road, rolling at first, then in mid-mountain terrain. The first marker is Ferrières-les-Bois at km 29.1, at 292 m. You then pass Cubrial at km 102.8, at 297 m, and Lure at km 125.9, at 300 m.
Belonchamp comes at km 141.9, at 342 m. The Col des Croix follows at km 157.3, at 686 m, then the Ballon d'Alsace pass at km 175.9, the high point at 1,172 m. The longest climb of the course gains 683 m, from km 160.9 to km 175.9: it starts in Le Thillot and ends at the Ballon d'Alsace pass. Shortly after the pass, the course goes near the Tête des Redoutes, a neighbouring summit.
After the Ballon d'Alsace, the road drops to Lepuix, at km 190.3, at 502 m. The finish is in Belfort, at km 205.8, at 360 m. Over the whole course, you add up 3,005 m of climbing and 2,848 m of descent.
