Reading the route
This cyclosportive starts at 6:30 a.m. in the center of Bourg-d'Oisans, at 722 m. The road climbs to the Col du Glandon, crossed at kilometer 36.7 at 1,920 m. A technical descent then leads to Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne, at kilometer 79.8, at 712 m. The Col du Télégraphe follows, at kilometer 92.1 at 1,558 m, on the road to Valloire.
After Valloire, the route takes on the longest climb of the day: 1,230 m of elevation gain between kilometer 96.9 and kilometer 114.9, up to the Col du Galibier, the high point at 2,634 m. It then descends over the Col du Lautaret, passes La Grave, at kilometer 134.4, at 1,483 m, and reaches Mizoën, at kilometer 148.2, at 1,069 m.
The road returns to the valley floor at Bourg-d'Oisans, then tackles the 21 hairpins that climb to Alpe d'Huez. The foot of this last climb closes at 5:45 p.m. The finish is at Alpe d'Huez, at kilometer 175.9, at 1,812 m, after 5,000 m of climbing on paved alpine passes.
