Reading the route
You leave Champagnole at 13:10, at 600 m of altitude. The whole course is on the road, in mid-mountain and then high-mountain terrain. You pass Pont-de-la-Chaux at km 7.9, at 725 m, then cross the Col de la Savine at km 22.9, at 992 m. Via Morez and Les Rousses, you reach La Cure at km 40.6, at 1,150 m.
You then pass Mijoux at km 55.2, at 1,004 m, and Chézery-Forens at km 76.9, at 599 m. The road goes through Bellegarde-sur-Valserine and then Archamps before the Col de la Croisette, which you cross at km 138.1, at 1,172 m. After the pass, you ride through La Roche-sur-Foron and Bonneville.
The longest climb of the course then starts at km 172.9 and gains 1,040 m over the last 13.5 km. It leads to the finish at Plateau de Solaison, at km 186.4 and 1,486 m, the highest point of the course. Over the whole course, you add up 4,649 m of climbing and 3,763 m of descent.
