Gauja Trail 100 K stays nearly flat: the trail never climbs past 105 m, following the Gauja river and its sandstone cliffs. The start, at Sigulda New Castle, is at 7:30 am.
From the castle, the course crosses the town's bobsleigh track, then climbs a short rise at Rata kalns, before dropping back toward the river.
The trail then follows the wooded Gauja valley to Bērzi, then Līgatne, between sandstone cliffs and deep forest.
It passes Pie Amatas, then Ozolkalns, before reaching Cēsis and its ski slopes at the finish. Runners have 18 hours to complete the course.

The organiser announces 90.4 km for the 2027 edition. Plotrek's illustrative route, redrawn on OpenStreetMap paths, measures 88.8 km and 1,818 m of gain. Start: Château neuf de Sigulda; finish: Cēsis; on the way, Līgatne at km 51.6. The elevation loss measured on this route is 1,812 m.
18 hours for the 2027 edition, according to the organiser's website, read on 17 September 2026. That is the time allowed to cover the announced 90.4 km. Start: Château neuf de Sigulda, at 7:30 am. The time limit can change from one edition to the next; the organiser's rules prevail.
The highest point of Plotrek's route is at 105 m, at km 56.3. The high point lies between two landmarks of the course: Līgatne (47 m, km 51.6) and Pie Amatas (38 m, km 66.2). The start and finish are both at 96 m. Altitudes measured on the route, with a terrain model.
