Start at 4 am, from Radda in Chianti, right in the middle of the Tuscan vineyards, while it's still dark.
The route first climbs toward Lecchi, then the summits of Montemartini and Monte Luco, on rugged trails typical of the Chianti hills, between vine rows and oak woods.
It then crosses Gaiole in Chianti, another wine village, before climbing back to Poggio a Barberi and then Monte San Michele, at 895 m, near the end.
The finish is back in Radda in Chianti. The limit sits at 26.5 hours.

Plotrek's illustrative route, redrawn on OpenStreetMap paths, measures 121.9 km and 4,607 m of elevation gain. It is a loop, with Radda in Chianti as start and finish, Monte Luco at km 52.6 and Gaiole in Chianti at km 76.9. The elevation loss measured on this route is 4,608 m.
Monte San Michele, at 895 m, at km 106.4 of Plotrek's route. The high point lies between two landmarks of the course: Gaiole in Chianti (360 m, km 76.9) and Radda in Chianti (530 m, km 121.9). The start and finish are both at 531 m.
378 m of elevation gain in one go, from km 46.7 to km 52.3 of Plotrek's route. Landmark on the way: Monte Luco (801 m, km 52.6). No other climb on the 121.9 km loop is as long. Average gradient of this section: 6.8%. It accounts for 8% of the route's elevation gain.
