Reading the route
The start, in Labin, is given at 5 pm, late in the afternoon, for a point-to-point line that crosses the whole of Istria and finishes at sea level, in Umag.
The route first climbs through the forests of the Učka massif to the summit of Vojak, at 1,378 m. Past that summit, it drops in stages to Brgudac, then Trstenik, two villages of Istria's interior.
It then crosses Buzet, gateway to central Istria, crosses the Butoniga valley and climbs back to Livade, in the heart of the wine and truffle roads, before Grožnjan, a medieval village perched on its rocky spur. The terrain alternates forest trails through the massif, an old railway line converted into a track, and coastal path for the final kilometers.
The finish, in Umag, comes at sea level. The cutoff is 45 hours to link the two ends of the peninsula.
