The race starts in Llanberis, at 14:00, at 106 m. The longest climb on the course, 872 m of gain, begins there and ends at km 6.9, at the Bwlch Glâs pass, just below Snowdon. The route then crosses Pen-y-Pass, at km 11.8, at 375 m, passes near Glyder Fawr, at km 14.9, then near Carnedd Llewelyn, at km 29.4, at 1,048 m, the highest point of the course.

Exposed ridges, scree and boulder fields, boggy moorland and technical trails follow one another around the loop. The route passes near Moel Siabod, at km 53.8, at 840 m, then through Dolwyddelan, at km 59.9, before crossing Blaenau Ffestiniog, at km 73.1, at 213 m. It then reaches Croesor, at km 84.6, at 168 m, passes near Cnicht, at km 87.6, then reaches Beddgelert, at km 111.3, at 46 m.

The route passes near Moel Hebog, at km 115, then through Rhyd Ddu, at km 125.2, before passing near Snowdon, at km 131.5, at 1,035 m. It then passes near Mynydd Mawr, at km 141.7, and Moel Eilio, at km 152.2, before the finish in Llanberis, at km 161.5, at 106 m, with 9,097 m of climbing and 9,097 m of descent, within a 48-hour time limit.
