Reading the route
The start is at Tingstadjordet, 3 km from central Rena, at 7:45 for elite men, then in waves until 10:05. From the start at 296 m, the longest climb on the course takes you past Skramstadsetra, at km 8.6, at 638 m. It continues to Dambua, at km 15.2, at 754 m, where a feed station awaits.
After Dambua, the route drops to Kvarstad, at km 27.5, at 671 m, before climbing again to the high point of the course: Midtfjellet, at km 34.2, at 897 m. The route then descends to Sjusjøen, at km 40.3, at 873 m, where a feed station awaits.
From Sjusjøen, the route reaches the Birkebeineren Skistadion in Lillehammer, after 54 km, at 490 m. The finish closes at 19:00. Across the full course, in a line from Rena, total climbing reaches 1,121 m, covered in classic cross-country skiing with a mandatory 2 kg pack.
