An out-and-back along the Gold Coast oceanfront, through Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and Mermaid Beach: 42.2 km from Southport.

This marathon runs out and back over 42.2 km. It follows the ocean for much of the route, with 29 km right along the coast. The start goes off at 6:15 am, on the Gold Coast Highway, at the corner of Nerang Street, in Southport.
The route then heads south along the coast: Main Beach, then Surfers Paradise, on ocean-facing urban avenues, with bridges and pedestrian crossings along the way.
It continues through Broadbeach, then Mermaid Beach, before the route turns back, retracing the same course in reverse, passing through the same neighborhoods again on the way to Southport.
The finish is at Southport Broadwater Parklands, close to where it started. The clock stops at 7 hours.

Start: Gold Coast Highway (Southport). Finish: Southport Broadwater Parklands, 42.195 km further on. The 2027 edition is scheduled for Sunday, 4 July 2027. For the 2026 edition, the organiser's website gives a start time of 6:15 am. First landmark on Plotrek's route: Mermaid Beach, at km 14.6.
Landmarks on Plotrek's route: Mermaid Beach at km 14.6, Surfers Paradise at km 25.3, then Main Beach at km 28.6. The last one, Main Beach, is about 14.1 km from the finish, Southport Broadwater Parklands. These landmarks are a selection of named places along the route, not a full list of what it passes.
7 hours to cover the 42.195 km, according to the organiser's website (2026 edition, read on 17 September 2026). That is an average pace of about 9 min 57 s per kilometre over the whole distance. The time limit can change from one edition to the next; the organiser's rules prevail.
