Reading the route
From mountain to sea: this route starts high, in Auron, and finishes on Nice's seafront, the Promenade des Anglais, with its highest elevation reached right at the start.
1 pm, in Auron: the drop toward the sea begins in early afternoon. The route climbs almost immediately to its highest point, before beginning a long traverse through the Tinée and Vésubie valleys.
It passes Isola, then Rimplas and Venanson, before climbing to Mont Férion, on the route's last major ascent.
The route then drops through Mont Leuze, down to the coast, for a finish on the Promenade des Anglais. 50 hours 15 minutes separate Auron from the seafront.
