The Grizzly Ultra Marathon 50 km unfolds over five consecutive legs — Grey Wolf, Cougar, Odyssey, Killer Bees, then Coyote — each rated on a claw scale from the smoothest to the toughest. The start is at the Canmore Nordic Centre stadium, at 09:00; the loop returns to the same point.

From the stadium, the route climbs to its high point within the first few kilometres, then holds its elevation to Rundle. It continues through Odyssey and Coyote, drops toward Meadowview, then climbs back through Swamp and Nector Noodle on the way back to the stadium.

The terrain mixes rolling double-track, technical single-track over roots and rocks, and steep switchbacks on both climbs and descents, on trails groomed for Nordic skiing and biathlon. This is Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, in Kananaskis Country, where a Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required.

The cutoff is 9 hours for all entrants, solo or team. The Killer Bees leg must be finished by 17:00, also the last start time on the Coyote leg.
