Reading the route
Start at 06:30 from Snowbird Center, at 2,472 m. The route climbs to Hidden Peak for the first time, at km 15.5, at 3,330 m. It passes Sunday Saddle, at km 18.4, then descends to Dutch Flat, the lowest point of the route, in American Fork Canyon.
The longest climb of the route (753 m) starts at Dutch Flat, at km 24.7, and ends at km 30.3. The route then passes Mineral Basin, then Sugarloaf Pass, at km 34.1, just before Mount Baldy, the high point of the route, at km 35.3, at 3,364 m. It passes Gorilla Pass, at km 36.1, then climbs back to Hidden Peak, at km 41.1.
Switchbacks, rocky trails, service roads and ridges share the loop. After the second visit to Hidden Peak, the route descends to the finish at Snowbird Center, at km 52, at 2,474 m. Across the full route, it gains 3,291 m and loses 3,289 m, to be covered within a 13-hour cutoff.
