Reading the route
In Gothenburg, Sweden, this half marathon starts and finishes inside Slottsskogen park without doubling back: it is run point to point. Margretebergsgatan, inside the park, sees the runners off at 13:00. The route passes Säldammsbacken at kilometer 2.5, then Majorna, before crossing the Älvsborgsbron at kilometer 6.1.
Just past the bridge it passes Färjenäsparken, then reaches Eriksberg at kilometer 8.3 and Lindholmen at kilometer 10.3. It goes on through Frihamnen, then crosses the Hisingsbron at kilometer 14.3 to reach Gustaf Adolfs torg at kilometer 15.6. The course then passes Avenyn and Götaplatsen, before going through Vasastaden at kilometer 17.8.
It takes in Linné and then Skanstorget before turning back into the park. The finish is at Slottsskogsvallen, at kilometer 21.3. Start and finish thus sit in the same park, at either end of a point-to-point route. From end to end the course stays in the city, on streets, harbour quays, bridges and a shopping avenue.
