Reading the route
Bay to Breakers starts at 8:00, in waves until 8:45, on Howard Street, by Fremont Street, in San Francisco's city center. The route follows Howard Street to 9th Street, then reaches Hayes Street, at Market Street, at km 2.7. It then takes Divisadero Street, then Fell Street, at km 4.7.
Fell Street leads to Stanyan Street, where the route enters Golden Gate Park on John F Kennedy Drive, at km 6.2. It follows John F Kennedy Drive through the park to the junction with Chain of Lakes Drive, at km 10.6. That junction closes at 12:30.
From Chain of Lakes Drive, the route continues on John F Kennedy Drive to the Great Highway. It passes near the Beach Chalet before the finish, after 12 km, on the Great Highway, at Ocean Beach, at the western edge of Golden Gate Park. The finish line closes at 13:00.
