Reading the route
The start is at 7:00 at North Broad Street and Fisher Avenue, in Philadelphia. The course runs on Broad Street the whole way, heading south. A marker stands at every mile, named after the cross street: Cayuga Street at the first, Tioga Street at the second, at 3.1 km, Cumberland Street at the third.
The route passes Temple University at 6.2 km, then Master Street marks the fourth mile. Spring Garden Street follows at the fifth mile, before the course reaches City Hall, at 9.3 km, skirted along its west side. From there, Broad Street crosses Walnut Street, at the sixth mile. The course then passes the Kimmel Center.
Federal Street marks the seventh mile, at 11.3 km, then Ritner Street the eighth. Pattison Avenue follows at the ninth mile, at 14.7 km, before the finish at The Navy Yard, on South Broad Street, after 16.1 km. The race enforces a minimum pace of 15 minutes per mile.
