TDS follows the old paths of the Dukes of Savoy, from Courmayeur to Chamonix, with one of the most intense climbs in the massif. It starts at 11:50 pm, almost midnight.

The trail climbs straight to Col des Chavannes, the highest point of the course, at 2,581 m, before dropping via the Petit Saint-Bernard pass.

It passes Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then climbs to Passeur de Pralognan, before dropping toward La Gittaz.

The trail then passes Hauteluce, Le Signal and Col de Tricot, before Les Houches and the finish in Chamonix. Runners have up to 44 hours and 55 minutes to finish.
