OCC links Switzerland to France on the shortest of the Mont-Blanc massif's point-to-point routes, with a dense run of cols and alpine pastures. It starts from Orsières at 8:15 am.
The trail first passes Champex-Lac, then Plan de l'Au, before dropping toward the Trient valley.
From Trient, it climbs up to Tête de Balme, the high point of the route, at 2,292 m.
It then drops via Col des Posettes, passes Le Tour and Argentière, before reaching Chamonix. Runners have fourteen and a half hours from start to finish.

The organiser announces 60 km and 3,500 m of elevation gain for the 2026 edition. Plotrek's illustrative route, redrawn on OpenStreetMap paths, measures 59.9 km and 3,245 m of gain. Start: Orsières; finish: Chamonix; on the way, Tête de Balme at km 34.6. The elevation loss measured on this route is 3,116 m.
14 hours 30 minutes for the 2026 edition, according to the organiser's website, read on 17 September 2026. That is the time allowed to cover the announced 60 km. Start: Orsières, at 8:15 am. The time limit can change from one edition to the next; the organiser's rules prevail.
Tête de Balme, at 2,292 m, at km 34.6 of Plotrek's route. The high point lies between two landmarks of the course: Trient (1,306 m, km 23.2) and Col des Posettes (1,994 m, km 41.1). The start is at 912 m, the finish at 1,041 m.
