Reading the route
CCC crosses three countries in one push: the start, in Courmayeur, Italy, is at 9 am; the finish, in Chamonix, France, comes after a stretch through Switzerland.
The course tops out early, at Tête de la Tronche (2,536 m), before swinging toward the first col of the race, Grand Col Ferret.
Past the col, the descent reaches La Fouly then Champex-Lac, in Switzerland, before climbing back up to Les Tseppes.
It passes Col des Montets and La Flégère before dropping into Chamonix. Starting on Friday, runners have until Saturday late morning to finish — a 27-hour cutoff.
