Reading the route
The start is at 05:00 in Fuschl am See, at 665 m. The route passes through Abersee before reaching Strobl at km 22.8 (540 m), then the Sommeraualm at km 28.8. It passes near the summit of the Schafberg at km 34.3, just before the Himmelspforte, the course's high point at 1,724 m, at km 35.2.
Forest trails, hiking paths, alpine pastures and summits share the loop. The longest climb of the route, 968 m of elevation gain, starts at km 44.2, just before Sankt Gilgen (km 45.1), and ends near the Zwölferhorn, at km 51.1 (1,507 m). The route then passes the Illingeralm at km 54.2, the Schafbachalm at km 63.1 (1,053 m), and Faistenau at km 77.3 (785 m). It passes Ebenau at km 86.9 (604 m).
Between Ebenau and Koppl (km 101.6, 761 m), the route crosses the flank of the Gaisberg at km 96.7, without reaching its summit. It then passes Hof bei Salzburg at km 107.3, before the finish in Fuschl am See, at km 116, at 665 m, for a total of 5,229 m of climbing and 5,230 m of descent, within a 24-hour cutoff.
