Reading the route
Banjo Patterson Park, in Jindabyne, is the starting point, crossed at 3 am, for a line that never leaves Kosciuszko National Park.
The route passes the Gaden Trout Hatchery, then Bullocks Flat, before climbing to Charlotte Pass and reaching the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia's highest.
It then drops back through Charlotte Pass a second time, passes the Guthega Power Station and crosses Bullocks Flat again, on high alpine trails and former ski areas.
It crosses the Ngarigo Campground, then Village Green, before the finish in the Snowy Mountains. 36 hours: that's the cutoff.
