Reading the route
The Tour du Queyras starts in Ceillac, at 1,647 m, in the Hautes-Alpes. This long-distance loop, the GR 58, crosses the Queyras over 108.4 km and 7,653 m of climbing. The Queyras is a regional nature park created in 1977: the trail links passes and valleys before returning to its starting point.
After the Col de Bramousse (km 4.3), the loop reaches the Furfande refuge (km 15.1) and the Col de Furfande (km 16.3). Next come the Col du Tronchet (km 29.5), the Col de Péas (km 40.2) and the Col du petit Malrif (km 48.9), then Abriès (km 58.2). The trail crosses the Collette de Gilly (km 65.3), the Monta refuge (km 71.9) and the Col Vieux (km 81.9).
The high point, 2,873 m, is the Col de Chamoussière (km 86.4), after the Agnel refuge. The longest climb gains 1,270 m, from km 10 to km 16.3. Saint-Véran (km 96.3), at 2,040 m, is described as one of the highest inhabited communes in Europe. The Col des Estronques leads back to Ceillac, at 1,651 m.
