Reading the route
The longest route in this batch of posters starts at an alpine dam and finishes on Lake Geneva, with its highest elevation crossed very early on.
10 am: the gun goes off at the Grande Dixence, a large Valais dam. The route climbs straight to that high point, then settles into a very long string of mountain passes.
It then crosses the Col de Mille, then the Fenêtre d'Arpette, on the route's longest climb, before the Col de Susanfe and the Portes de l'Hiver.
The route also crosses the Col de Folière and the Pas de Lovenex, before dropping to Le Bouveret, on the shore of Lake Geneva. 56 hours: the widest cutoff in this batch of races.
