Reading the route
The course starts in Barcelona, at Parc del Fòrum, at an altitude of 8 m, and stays on urban asphalt from start to finish. The first kilometres follow the Avinguda del Litoral. At km 8.1 you pass Carrer de Cantàbria, at 19 m, then the Rambla de Guipúscoa at km 9.3, at 24 m.
At km 10.5, Carrer d'Aragó sits at 36 m, then comes the Sagrada Família at km 11.9, at 49 m. The Passeig de Gràcia follows at km 13.6, at 61 m. You then drop back down to the Plaça d'Espanya, at km 17.5, at 36 m.
The finish is on Montjuïc, in the climb to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, at 102 m: the highest point of the course. From the Plaça d'Espanya, you climb from 36 m to 102 m up to the line. Overall, the longest ascent gains 98 m, from km 2 all the way to the finish. In total, the course adds up to 231 m of climbing over 19.9 km.
