Reading the route
Bighorn 100 runs out-and-back: the same trail, through the Bighorn National Forest, carries runners both ways. The start is at 9 am, on Tongue Canyon Road.
The trail climbs straight into technical single-track, then alternates doubletrack and gravel road across the high country, with mud on some sections. Most of the route stays deep in the backcountry, far from any road.
It climbs to the course's high point, 2,742 m, just ahead of the Jaws Trailhead turnaround — roughly the halfway mark. From there, runners retrace the same trail in the other direction.
The way back passes Tongue Canyon Road again, then reaches Dayton for the finish at Scott Park. Runners get 35 hours, start to finish, to complete the out-and-back.

The route, drawn with a pen
The relief of the course, a 155.2 km out-and-back from Tongue Canyon Road, takes shape as contour lines: our pen plotter draws it with a pen, line by line. Your finisher name and time go in the cartouche, in A4, A3 or A2.
